With a rich and eclectic musical career under his belt, Willie Aron has become one of the most dynamic and distinctive children’s musicians in Los Angeles. A Grammy Award-nominated children’s music producer, Willie has invigorated kids’ music with a blend of irresistibly catchy original songs, a smattering of beloved favorites, and a gregarious, welcoming stage persona. Willie’s life as a musician has taken him many places, both literally and figuratively. A professional musician since his early twenties, Willie co-founded an influential folk-pop group called The Balancing Act, who released three critically-acclaimed records on I.R.S. Records, toured extensively and developed a loyal cult following.

Willie subsequently became a coveted studio and touring musician, playing guitar and keyboards for people like Rickie Lee Jones, The Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs, Michael Penn, and scores of others.

Wanting to concentrate on writing his own music, Willie (with the encouragement of noted music supervisor and KCRW DJ Gary Calamar) transitioned into becoming a film and television composer, which he has been doing for nearly fifteen years. At the same time, says Willie, “I was drawn to the purity and power of children’s music. I began working with my good friend, singer-songwriter Peter Himmelman, who asked me to help him co-produce a children’s album for him, and a new facet to my musical career was born.” The resulting record, My Green Kite, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Children’s Music Album of 2007.

Willie’s kids’ music career took off like a rocket soon afterwards. He was asked to help develop the curriculum and write original songs for a Los Angeles-based children’s music space and company called Play Music (play-losangeles.com). It was at PLAY where Willie’s songs became modern children’s staples, and which are performed at preschools throughout Los Angeles. He has since become a highly sought-after children’s entertainer, performing at children’s birthday parties throughout Southern California and regularly at the renowned kids’ restaurant Gigggles ‘n Hugs in Century City (gigglesnhugs.com).
